CHARGES AGAINST CHIEFS STAR DROPPED

A CHARGE of being in possession of a stolen vehicle was withdrawn against Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Lifa Gqosha when he appeared in the Protea regional court in Soweto on Thursday. Soweto police spokesman Inspector John Shiburi on Thursday said that police had withdrawn charges against Gqosha of possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest, but that he was still facing charges of assaulting a police officer and trying to escape. Police pulled Gqosha (31) over while he was driving his silver-gray Volkswagen Golf GTi in Pimville, Soweto, on Tuesday last week. Police claimed that Gqosha assaulted an officer and tried to flee, at which stage an officer fired at Gqosha and hit him in the shoulder.
