IAN WOODALL, leader of the South African team attempting to summit Everest, said on Tuesday that international expedition leaders may pool their resources to summit after the rescue of two Ukrainian mountaineers depleted the food and fuel reserves of most of the teams on the mountain. SABC TV reported that the South African team took part in an international effort to save the two men who were injured in a storm on Saturday after becoming the first team to reach the summit of Everest this year. A third member of the Ukrainian team fell to his death during the storm. The rescued climbers are in a serious but stable condition at the advance base camp at 6500m.
