INTERPOL ROPED IN FOR NYATI

POLICE are preparing to ask Interpol, the international police body, to help track down elusive political analyst Eugene Nyati after he successfully dodged a local warrant of arrest for ten weeks. The Pretoria Regional Court ordered Nyati’s arrest on April 1 when he failed to appear for trial on attempted murder charges after allegedly shooting an employee during a salary dispute. Police were unable to arrest Nyati, however, when the case docket and arrest order disappeared in the court’s “chaotic” administrative system for seven weeks and Nyati apparently left the country. Neither police nor his own attorney have been able to track him down to convince him to surrender, said investigating officer Sergeant Jean Aucamp on Saturday.
