COSAS RE-AFFIRMS WCAPE ANARCHY THREAT

THE Congress of South African Students (on Thursday re-affirmed its commitment to make the Western Cape “ungovernable” if the African National Congress was not given control of the province. Cosas provincial deputy chairperson Mailibongwe said in Athlone that they would hold meetings on Thursday and Friday with students to discuss the coalition impasse. Asked if “burning” of the city of Cape Town would form part of “ungovernability”, Lwana replied: “We will make a mess”, declining to elaborate further. Students would embark in rolling mass action until premier Gerald Morkel was forced to leave office, he said. He said students knew who they elected to become the provincial premier and it was Ebrahim Rasool.
