EAGLES STAY UNBEATEN

THE Vodacom Eagles of the South Western Districts retained their unbeaten record in the Bankfin Currie Cup competition when they defeated the Fedsure Western Province team 36-24, after the visitors had been ahead 15-10 at halftime. WP led on the scoreboard for a major part of the game, but towards the end the Eagles managed to draw ahead and defend their slender lead. Close scoring made it a nailbiting affair and supporters of both teams must at times have been close to despair. Overeagerness on both sides led to many handling errors and there were many stoppages for scrums and lineouts.

Scorers for the Vodacom Eagles:

Tries: Flank Lodewyk Hattingh, centre Wayne Munn and No 8 Anton Leonard. Flyhalf Pieter O’Neill added three conversions and five penalty goals.

Fedsure Western Province:

Tries were scored by flank Hendrik Gerber and leftwing Jeffrey Stevens. Flyhalf Louis Koen added one conversion and four penalty goals.
