THE South African Under-21 rugby team will face Western Province Under-21 at Bellville Rugby Club on Saturday as part of their preparations for the SANZAR/UAR Under-21 Tournament in Argentina in July. The match kicks off at 4pm. The 28-strong Under-21 squad has just completed an intense week-long training camp in Cape Town. The camp included an earlier warm-up match against WP B on Wednesday, which the Under-21s comfortably won 35-8, scoring seven tries to one. The SA Under-21 selectors have decided to rest hard-working Boland centre Wayne Julies, who recently played against Free State, Italy and Western Province in the space of eight days. Winger Friedrich Lombard moves to centre with Barry MacDonald coming in on the wing. This is the only significant change to a strong and highly capable Under-21 combination.
SA Under-21 team:
Johan Roets, Barry MacDonald, Friedrich Lombard, Eugene Marx, Frikkie Welsh, Butch James, Coenraad Groenewald, Shaun Sowerby, Sean Plaatjies, Heindro Scholtz, Daniel Vickerman, Pieter Myburgh, John Smit (capt), Skipper Badenhorst, Lawrence Sephaka. Reserves: Neil Powell, Danzel Manuel, Donovan Everitt, Bandile Ncunyana, Hanyani Shimange, Eduard Coetzee.
