SOUTH African boxing chief Soon Pretorious is confident the team, named on Thursday, will do well in the All-Africa Games in Johannesburg from September 10-19. The SA National Amateur Boxing Organisation (Sanabo) president said the team is relatively young, but Sanabo are in a building phase for the Commonwealth and Olympic Games. “All-Africa Games is vital in helping the boxers’ gain experience,” he said. “The squad was selected prior to the SA Championship that took place a week ago in Lichtenberg in North West Province.” The squad is: Jorge Cordeiro (Gauteng), Braam Duvenage (Northern Province), Manna Fourie (Free State), Jeremy Holdt (KwaZulu-Natal), Silence Mabuza (Gauteng), Sunboy Magazi, Zolani Marali (Eastern Cape), Mtutuzeli Mapukata (Gauteng), Osborne Mashimane (Gauteng), Phumzile Mathiya (East London), Siphiwe Nongqayi (Gauteng) and Danie Venter (Gauteng). The team will be managed by Sakhiwe Sodo and coached by Hazert Hlophe and Lennox Mpulampula.
