THE Australian scrum took a battering against the All Blacks in Saturday’s 34-15 Tri Nations loss after unconvincing performances earlier this season, prompting calls for personnel changes before the Wallabies take on South Africa in Cape Town on August 14. A squad of up to 26 players will be named on Friday and the make-up of the pack will attract the most interest as young hooker Jeremy Paul and lock John Welborn, among others, face a battle to hold on to their starting spots. Injured Wallaby captain John Eales conceded the Wallabies had plenty of room for improvement but he had no doubt the current pack had the skills to push through the testing World Cup schedule. Eales will be a welcome addition to the Wallaby pack for the showpiece tournament and he has slated a club match on August 7 for his return from the shoulder injury which has sidelined him since February.
