A SUSPECTED explosive device found at the United States embassy in Pretoria on Monday turned out to be a single round for a .45 handgun, police said. Captain Morne van Wyk said a package was delivered to the embassy Monday afternoon. After putting the package through a scanner and becoming suspicious, an embassy guard alerted the police. Sniffer dogs were brought in and experts concluded the package might contain explosives. It was blown up in a controlled explosion. “We suspect no foul play, and regard the matter as closed,” Van Wyk said.
