UGANDA’S COFFEE INCOME SLIDES

UGANDA has recorded a 35,6% drop in its coffee revenue due to a dry spell in the coffee producing areas in western Uganda, the Uganda Coffee Development Authority said in Kampala on Monday. In a statement, the UCDA said that Uganda’s coffee exports in July stood at 342029 bags of 60kgs each, down from 415617 bags exported in June, which represented a slide of 16% in volumes. The July performance was projected at 350000 bags at the beginning of the month under review. The revenue earned in July was only $21,7 million dollars, compared to June’s 28.6 million dollars and 19.4 million dollars in May, when only 265978 bags were exported.
