NIGERIAN sports officials on Tuesday announced Lagos and Kano as the two Nigerian cities to host matches in next year’s African Nations Cup, to be co-hosted with Ghana. The National Stadium, Lagos, and the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, will be the venue for the matches played in Nigeria, with the final to be played in Lagos, Nigerian Football Association spokesman Paul Bassey said. Ghanaian officials are expected soon to announce the venues for their leg of the event, the first major international footballing fixture to be hosted by two countries, ahead of the 2002 World Cup being co-hosted by Japan and South Korea. The 2000 African Nations Cup is to take place from January 22 to February 13.
