NAMIBIAN President Sam Nujoma has announced that general and presidential elections will take place on 30 November and 1 December, media reports said on Monday. Nujoma announced the dates in a proclamation issued late on Friday. Namibian officials were quoted as saying that polling for the general and presidential elections were take place at the same time, because of “logistical reasons.” In the last election the ruling party SWAPO, took 73% of the vote giving it a two thirds majority in the 72-seat National Assembly. An estimated 847000 voters have registered for the election, news reports said.
