Madiba in Tanzania

Former president Nelson Mandela on Friday flew to Tanzania to pay his respects to the Nyerere family following the death of former president Julius Nyerere on October 14. Mandela’s private secretary and spokeswoman Zelda le Grange said Mandela would travel to the home of the Nyerere family in Butiama where he will meet Nyerere’s widow and other family members. Mandela was unable to attend Nyerere’s funeral in October because he was on a visit to the Middle East. He had, however, expressed his wish to travel to Tanzania as soon as possible to pay his last respects to the founding father and former president of Tanzania.
