WESTERN Cape police commissioner Lennit Max says transforming the police service to make it representative of the communities it serves and a crackdown on corruption are among his priorities, reports Marianne Merten. The former Eastern Cape deputy commissioner on Wednesday morning officially assumed office in the province which this week was rocked by another bomb explosion. Speaking to a hall packed with various police officials, Max urged them to fully participate in transforming the service. Sacrifices would have to be made, he says, but once transformation was complete those who fully participated in the process could expect rewards. But no-one should expect promotion simply because of the colour of their skin.
