MPUMA MAN EATEN BY CROCODILE
AN Mpumalanga man swimming in the Sabie River in the Kruger National Park was killed by a crocodile on Sunday. Marc Webber, 39, of Hazyview, was swimming at Skukuza with his three-year-old nephew when the crocodile attacked him at about 5pm. On Tuesday police spokesman Sergeant Ivan Clur said Webber’s girlfriend, Louisa Bruckner, and friend Lewis Croll were standing on the bank of the Sabie. Clur said Webber suddenly threw the child away from him, and Bruckner jumped into the water to save the little boy. “She managed to pulled him out of the water, and Webber was screaming that there was a crocodile,” Clur said. Webber disappeared under the water. Kruger Park and police divers plus a helicopter were called in, but failed to find his body. Clur said the search was continuing on Tuesday. He added the Sabie was said to be infested with crocodiles at the spot where Webber was swimming. — African Eye News Service
