CARLOS Sousa and Richard Sainct completed repeat performances Tuesday in winning the auto and bike classes of the sixth stage of the Dakar rally.
The pair repeated their triumphs of last Thursday in the Dakar to Tambacounda stage by prevailing from Ougadougou, Burkina Faso to Niamey.
But there are no real changes in the overall standings after the 733km (526km special) stage with Kenjiro Shinozuka of Japan stretching his lead by 15 seconds over Jean-Louis Schlesser in the auto section and Joan Roma of Spain remaining on top in the bike class.
Roma still holds on to his lead, with Sainct creeping back to within 22min 22sec of the Spaniard.
In the auto section, it looked like there was going to be a change in the overall lead when Schlesser took 5:41min off Shinozuka, leaving the Japanese driver with a lead of just 19 seconds overall.
