ARWICKSHIRE DECISION ‘HARSH’ — DONALD

SOUTH African fast-bowler Allan Donald said on Thursday that his long-time English county Warwickshire’s decision not to release him to play six one-day matches against Australia is a “little harsh.” “If I play the six one-day games then I haven’t got a contract for six months. “But I still would have loved to play,” said Donald on Thursday. “I think it was a little harsh probably from Warwickshire not saying yes.” Donald announced in January that he would take a six-month sabbatical from international cricket. But the United Cricket Board (UCB) had asked him to consider playing against the Australians, a split series of three matches in South Africa in April and three in Australia in August. However, the UCB said Donald’s English county side has vetoed the plan.
