13 KILLED IN SOMALIA CLASHES

AT least 13 people were killed and 20 others wounded in the Jilib district of the Lower Juba region after fighting erupted between two Somali sub-clans at weekend. Gunmen from Galjel and those of Shikal, both belonging to the larger Hawiye clan, fought on Saturday and Sunday following a land dispute and incidents of banditry, Shikal clan elder Abdiwahid Mohamed “Liqliqato” said. Witnesses said that both sides used machine guns and rocket-propelled grenade launchers during the fighting.
