A CESSNA pilot has been killed in an accident not far from the Rand Airport in Germiston. Three passengers were seriously injured in the crash. The Cessna 172 was on its way to Messina when it experienced problems shortly after take off on Wednesday morning. The plane apparently radioed for permission to return to the airport but crashed before it could get there.According to police the plane crashed alongside Radio Road in Alberton. One of the injured passengers was airlifted, while two others, a 34-year-old man from Randhart and a Kempton Park man, were taken to hospital by ambulance. The pilot’s name will be released after his next-of-kin have been informed.
