TAX MEN AFTER INDIAN CRICKETERS

Indian tax authorities raided the homes of leading cricketers and bookies in Bombay and other parts of the country, a senior tax department official said. ”We are looking for wealth or assets which have not been disclosed,” said K.V. M Pai, chief commissioner for income tax in Bombay. Pai refused to disclose names, but said more details of the India-wide operation will be available soon. Former South African captain Hansie Cronje admitted to taking money from bookies in April this year, sparking investigations into possible match-fixing throughout the cricketing world. – REUTERS
