DROPPED CALLS, BUT M-CELL PROSPERS

SOUTH African telecomms group M-Cell has unveiled a 59% rise in half-year headline earnings per share, and said its MTN mobile unit had enough spectrum to ensure continued growth. It reported headline earnings per share of 30.9 cents for the six months to end-September from 19.4 cents in the same period last year. Industry analysts have been concerned that the country’s two mobile phone operators were reaching capacity, with the number of dropped calls rising due to congestion. – Reuters
