THE wreck of a US World War II bomber with the skeletons of five crew members on board has been discovered in a lake in Tunisia. The aircraft was declared missing on August 13, 1943, a report said, adding that the five crew members were identified by the tags worn by all US servicemen. During World War II, Tunisian territory, at the time a French protectorate, was the scene of several engagements between the Allied forces and those fighting on the side of Nazi Germany. The plane was found during work to clean up the Lake of Tunis, where residential buildings, offices and clinics are being built north of the capital. – AFP
