THE Namibian man who had his hands and feet chopped off by his sister died in the intensive care unit at the Oshakati State Hospital on Tuesday. David Moses Halwoodi (33) survived for a week after Ndapandula Jafet hacked off his hands and feet with a panga. According to hospital sources, Halwoodi’s died as a result of his horrific wounds, but the exact cause will be established by post-mortem. Jafet chopped off Halwoodi’s hands and feet at Oinyikanyika village near Omungwelume in Omusati Region last Tuesday evening after a family quarrel, in which Halwoodi threatened his sister with death several times. Jafet was arrested by the Omungwelume Police and appeared in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court last Thursday, and charged with attempted murder. Family members have charged that Halwoodi was a known troublemaker whose actions had been reported to the Police in the past. – The Namibian
