ANC lambasts DA’s ‘apartheid Berlin wall’

The African National Congress (ANC) in the Western Cape on Wednesday said it was outraged at the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) approval for the erection of a wall in Kraaifontein to separate poor black communities from white communities.

”This is nothing but an apartheid Berlin wall,” ANC provincial secretary Mcebisi Skwatsha said in a statement.

”It is appalling, wrong and immoral. The fact that they want to introduce an electric fence shows just exactly what they think of poor black people. Tony Leon and the DA have finally exposed their rotten racist face with this decision,” said Skwatsha.

He was responding after the Cape Town executive committee on Tuesday approved the erection of a wall separating poor black residents in Wallacedene from their affluent white counterparts in Kraaifontein.

The wall will separate the 8 500 low cost houses to be built in Wallacedene to accommodate residents in the informal settlement. – Sapa
