The Jali Commission into prison corruption heard in Bloemfontein on Monday that a warder who allegedly sodomised a 20-year-old man at the Grootvlei Prison had been sexually molesting juveniles at the facility since 1985.
SABC reported that inmate Wilson Mohodi, who has also been charged with sexually molesting the youth, told the commission that he and the warder had discussed how they indulged in sexual acts with juveniles in prison.
Mohodi told the commission that the warder ran a soccer club for juveniles in prison and that all the boys in the team had sexual intercourse with him. Mohodi testified that he used to keep watch while the sexual acts were performed in the warder’s office.
