LIGHTNING KILLS SA SOCCER FAN

A SOUTH African soccer fan was struck dead by a bolt of lightning a match outside Johannesburg on Saturday, a radio report said here. The fan, who was not identified, was killed at a South African league match between the Classic and Manning Ranger clubs at Mehlareng stadium in Thembisa, some 20 kilometres northeast of Johannesburg, SABC radio reported. Two other people, one believed to be an SABC camera operator who was struck on the hand, were also injured, the report said. – AFP
