CAPE MAN KILLED FAMILY WITH AN AXE

REAL estate agent agent Tony Adlington killed his three children and injured his wife with an axe, police said on Friday. The bodies of Adlington (45) and his three children were found in a partially burnt out room in the couple’s Marina da Gama home on Wednesday after neighbours saw smoke billowing from the house. Adlington’s wife Debbie (42) was found in the main bedroom. She was unconscious. She is in a serious but stable condition in Groote Schuur Hospital. Police initially believed Adlington had shot dead his children, Kevin (12) Katelyn (10) and Craig (9) with a gun that was found under his charred body. Police spokeswoman Superintendent Nina Kirsten said Debbie Adlington and the children had all suffered blows to the head. Kirsten said the trauma surgeon had discovered while conducting an autopsy that the murder weapon had been a sharp knife, panga or axe. Police found a brand new axe when they conducted another search of the house on Thursday, Kirsten said. – Sapa
