When German DJ Paul van Dyk played at the Theatre on the Track in Midrand a few years ago, the venue was horribly overcrowded with sweaty ravers jostling to catch a glimpse of the man behind the decks. This will not be the case on December 7, according to the organisers of the Nescafé Ministry of Sound Global Tour, which hits Gauteng on that date.
There is a limited number of tickets available to see the two international acts on the line-up: Phats and Small and 4 Strings. Of course the last Ministry of Sound party, at Vodaworld, was also completely overbooked, so whether the organisers learned their lesson remains to be seen.
Jason Phats and Russell Small are the collaborators (along with singer Tony Thompson) who have had a runaway hit with the track Turn Around. They have also done remixes for many artists, including Jean-Michel Jarre, Simply Red and the Lighthouse Family.
Carlo Resoort is the Dutch DJ, remixer and producer who also goes by the name 4 Strings. His trance-house single Take Me Away has recently stormed up the club charts.
Sharing the main-floor decks with these two acts will be Derek the Bandit (no doubt with his pompous introductory fanfare all lined up) and Dean Fuel from Cape Town.
G-Force, Ryan Dent and Mbuso (with sultry singer Roxanne), as well as Jason Magic with the trumpet and trombone sounds of Bezwaana Brass, are on a second dance floor that sounds almost funkier than the main floor.
Tickets for the tour are R150 (R250 for VIP) at Computicket and selected Café Nescafé shops. See www.5fm.co.za for more information.
