Wine, Women and Song (Creative Kingdom) is the second album from R&B crooner Loyiso. It is an exciting listen with great quality in its lyrics and instruments — much better than his first release.Loyiso’s velvet voice betrays that he was once among the members of the highly acclaimed Drakensberg Boys’ Choir. He was also a member of TKZee Family and applies the depth of his voice with maturity, which proves that he is among the best vocalists around.Tracks on the album cover what its title says. They are about love, parties and having fun with beautiful women. Not all the songs on the album are slow-paced and romantic — there are some uptempo numbers that get one dancing. The album’s bonus track, Keep on Groovin’ with Donovan Solomons, has been receiving much airplay. It is all about having a good time and its fast-paced beat makes one sing along. Other notable tracks are an unharmed rendition of George Benson’s hit Give Me the Night, which has also been receiving a lot of deserved airplay. Shoulda’v Been and LB’s Place should also prove to be favourites based on their structured lyrics and composition. The trend in South Africa is that such albums do not sell, but this is a must-have in your CD rack. R&B in this country is not as big as kwaito, but Loyiso will certainly help to promote the genre. This album shows there are noteworthy South African R&B vocalists capable of establishing a reputation for themselves if given a chance.
