Three walk free in Zulu ambush case

Charges against three of the seven men accused of killing Prince Mazwi Zulu earlier this year were withdrawn in the Eshowe Regional Court on Friday, SABC radio news reported.

Zulu — the son of provincial Welfare MEC Gideon Zulu — was ambushed and murdered on the road between Ulundi and Melmoth in January.

The state found there was no evidence against Senza Zulu, Zakhele Buthelezi and Romeo Jali.

The remaining four accused face charges of murder, armed robbery, attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearms.

Their next court appearance will be at Mtubatuba on June 2. – Sapa
