Extra-time strike seals it for Santos

An extra-time strike from Santos’ Marawaan Bantam gave his side a 2-1 win over Black Leopards in a Castle PSL match played at the Athlone stadium in Cape Town on Sunday.

The half-time score was 1-1.

For Santos the win was even sweeter after they were forced to play the whole of the second half with 10 men after Kamaal Sait was red-carded in the first stanza.

The home side opened the scoring in the 43rd minute when Bantam did some neat work in midfield, passing to David Notoane, who in turn slipped the ball to Jean Marcithier to open his side’s account.

The visitors equalised in first-half extra time when the ball found unmarked Christopher Netshidzivhe, only to see his strike handled in the box by Sait who was duly sent off for an early shower.

Netshidzivhe made no mistake from the spot to level matters.

Leopards should have taken the lead in the 52nd minute when Fernando Matola, with only goalkeeper Brenden Wardle to beat, shot way over the bar. — Sapa
