A bomb attack on a bus in west Jerusalem on Sunday killed ”several people”, police said, while Israeli public radio spoke of at least 30 wounded.
”There have been several killed and many injured. The number 14 bus was packed and the explosion happened in the bus,” police spokesperson Micky Levy told public radio.
”We are verifying whether the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber,” he added.
The radio earlier spoke of some 30 hurt in the explosion near the King David Hotel, while a spokesperson for the Magen David Adom, the Israeli equivalent of the Red Cross, said at least 10 people were seriously injured.
The blast came the day before the world court in The Hague is due to begin debating the legality of the barrier along the West Bank which Israel says it is building to keep out Palestinian militants.
It also came as the radio reported that an five kilometre section of the barrier in the northern West Bank was being taken down. – Sapa-AFP
