Budget Chinese quad arrives in SA

AMID (the Association of Motorcycle Importers and Distributors) reports that so far there have been 4052 quads sold in South Africa this year, compared with 4 374 two wheelers. In fact, of the top ten selling motorcycles no less than nine are quads, with the lowly Honda CGL 125 delivery bike being the lone two wheeled contender, in 7th place.

Smith Mining Equipment has now entered the quad fray with a budget 260cc four wheeler. The Chinese-built Rustler utilises a single-cylinder four stroke engine mated to an automatic gearbox, and includes high and low ranges as well as a reverse gear. Other useful items are an electric starter and front and rear hydraulic disc brakes operated by a single lever, sturdy carriers front and rear and headlights. The quad comes with a six-month warranty at a very competitive R29 950.
