The state closed its case against accused rapist and murderer William Kekana on Friday in the Temba Circuit High Court outside Pretoria.
Advocate Dewald Reynierse cross-examined Kekana on his evidence-in-chief heard on Thursday, by trying to show the court that Kekana had been party to the crime and had not, as he testified, taken part in the murder and rape of Hester Rawstone (52), one-year-old Kayla, or the rape and murder of Janine Drennan (24) against his will.
”I put it bluntly that you are lying to this court,” Reynierse told Kekana.
But Kekana stuck to his testimony that he had participated in the crime because he had been forced into it by his now dead co-accused, Charles Fido Baloyi, whom he claimed shot him after the murder of Hester on the old Hebron Road.
Final arguments were expected on Friday afternoon. — Sapa
