Absa Cup champions Moroka Swallows have started preparing themselves for the 2004 soccer season by signing top striker Cecil Oersen.
Oersen has joined the Dube Birds from Bloemfontein Celtic, the team he helped to regain their Castle Premiership status last season when they won the First Division title.
He has signed a two-year contract with Swallows.
‘Cecil is a great striker and we are delighted to have signed a player of his calibre. He was consistent last season,†said Swallows co-director Gavin Bernstein.
Bernstein also confirmed that Swallows have signed former Wits University and Kaizer Chiefs central defender Ivan Winstanley. This was after Winstanley’s contract at Wits expired at the end of last season. His twin brother Neil, will be joining Mamelodi Sundowns in the new season. – Sapa
