Absa deputy group chief executive Rupert Pardoe has left the bank with immediate effect.
Absa said in a statement on Friday Pardoe had told the bank he did not intend to renew his contract which expires on August 31.
”Consequently, Mr Pardoe and Absa have agreed that he will leave the group’s service with immediate effect, and he has, accordingly, resigned as an executive director of Absa Bank Limited and Absa Group Limited, effective 9th July 2004. He has also resigned all other Absa subsidiary company directorships,” it said.
Pardoe joined Absa in September 2001 and became a director of Absa Bank Limited on October 15, 2001.
He was made a director of Absa Group Limited on August 8, 2002 and was appointed deputy group chief executive on February 21, last year.
Absa group chairperson Danie Cronje thanked Pardoe for his contribution to the group.
”We wish him the very best for the future, and he leaves with our very best wishes and thanks.”
