Four fake policemen, last seen in a car with fake police number plates, are on the run in Limpopo after entering a bottle store claiming to be searching for fake banknotes, then disappearing with the contents of the safe.
Police spokesman Senior Superintendent Motlafela Mojapelo said on Tuesday that the owner of the bottle store at Bolopa, near Lebowakgomo, reported that three of his four attackers were wearing police uniforms.
He said the four ordered him to accompany him to the local police station during their Monday morning attack but instead tied him up and dropped him on a deserted road near Marble Hall.
Meanwhile in North West, Marico area spokesman Captain David Serepa has warned of six to eight criminals travelling in a minibus with the false police registration plate BMX291B, which in fact belongs to a police van.
”They are said to be in possession of a police radio, police appointment certificates and they wear uniforms similar to those of the police,” he said.
They were last seen around Rustenburg and are believed to be ”armed and dangerous” and should not be apprehended.
Police have appealed to anyone with information to call (014) 590-4115. — Sapa
