Santos pledge to do SA proud

Santos have pledged to hoist the South African flag high during their Confederation Cup match against Hearts of Oak of Ghana in Kumasi on Saturday.

The match will start at 5pm South African time.

Santos coach Boebie Solomons, who has made a name for himself as one of the best local coaches, said they are ready for the match.

Solomons said they are expecting a tough game since Hearts will be playing in their own backyard with all the supporters rallying behind the team.

Santos are one of the two South African clubs still participating in the tournament. The other one is Orlando Pirates.

Pirates, winners of the 1995 African Champions League, are still to replay their second-round match against Sable de Batie of Cameroon on August 15.

Bucs are still enjoying a 4-2 lead from the first-leg match in Orkney last month. The overall winners will join Santos in the group stages of the tournament. — Sapa
