Man requests arrest to escape from mom

Fed up with living with his mother, a 26-year-old Italian got himself arrested on Wednesday by hurling a rock at a police car and smashing one of its windows, the Ansa news agency reported.

The incident took place in Florence after police were asked to intervene in a family squabble between a woman and her son, identified only by his initials, GF.

When the police arrived, GF asked the officers to take him to prison, saying he could no longer stand living with his mother.

But when the police refused to arrest him, he proceeded to smash their car’s window to get himself apprehended.

The man, who has a criminal record, faces charges of multiple damages and intimidation. — Sapa-DPA
