Motorcycle thief was looking for love

A lovesick teen landed himself in jail after he stole a motorcycle from his neighbour to get money to pay a sorcerer for love potions that would make his errant girlfriend return, Cambodian police said on Friday.

Takeo deputy district provincial police chief Soun Phon said by telephone that Nuon Ra (18) had visited a ”love magician” in desperation after his girlfriend dumped him. He was told she could be made to return and love him for all eternity — but for a price.

”Nuon Ra confessed that he stole the motorbike from his neighbour, Nou Horn (43), because he had no money to hire the love magician to persuade his girlfriend to love him forever,” Soun Phon said.

”The motorbike was sitting in front of Horn’s house with the key in the ignition. Nuon Ra was upset and needed to think, so he paced around and eventually went to sit on it, saw the key and then drove away.”

Nuon Ra is being detained in jail awaiting trial. The motorbike was returned to the owner, police said. — Sapa-DPA
