Kaizer Chiefs’ Zambian striker Collins Mbesuma steered Amahkosi to a 3-0 win over Black Leopards at Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday.
There was no score at half-time.
Chiefs achieved this win in spite of not playing some of their key players, who were rested for the Coca-Cola Cup final against Supersport United next Saturday.
As expected, Chiefs attracted a capacity crowd, with supporters singing and dancing, cheering their side on at every touch of the ball.
The visitors broke the ice through substitute David Mathubela who tapped in after a square pass from Emmanuel ”Scara” Ngobse in the 76th minute.
Mbesuma added his second goal for their defending Premier Soccer League champions when he easily beat advancing Leopards goalkeeper Walter Khumalo two minutes later.
While Chiefs supporters were leaving the stadium, convinced of their 2-0 win, Mbesuma struck again in the referee’s added time. — Sapa
