Roland Schoeman of South Africa won the 50m freestyle on Wednesday at a short-course swimming World Cup meet, one day after setting a world record in the 100m individual medley.
Schoeman won the 50m freestyle in 21,53 seconds at Eriksdalsbadet’s fast pool, beating Jason Lezak of the United States by 0,07 seconds. On Tuesday, Schoeman broke Thomas Rupprath’s record by 0,07 seconds, clocking 52,51.
Ed Moses of the US finished a sweep of the breaststroke events, winning the 100m in 58,03 to remain unbeaten in the Swedish capital. Moses won the 50m and 200m on Tuesday.
Josefin Lillhage and Therese Alshammar secured a Swedish double in the 100m freestyle. Lillhage finished in 53,26, while Alshammar clocked 53,51.
Alshammar later won the 50m butterfly in 25,56 seconds, ahead of fellow Swede and world record holder Anna-Karin Kammerling, who was 0,19 seconds behind. — Sapa-AP
