South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) outgoing CEO Peter Matlare has been appointed to Vodacom South Africa in the capacity of executive director: commercial with effect from April 1, the group announced on Thursday.
Matlare, whose resignation from the SABC was announced on Wednesday, had been with the public broadcaster since January 2001. Prior to that he was chief operating officer for entertainment and information at Primedia (PMA).
His background and experience, in the field of telecommunications, media and technology, will make him a valuable member of Vodacom operations team, Vodacom Group chief communications officer Mthobi Tyamzashe said.
The 45-year old Matlare holds an MA in Political Economy from the UK’s University of York and a BSc (Hons) from the University of Plymouth. – I-Net Bridge
