Proteas and Highveld Lions all-rounder Andrew Hall has been released from the Standard Bank Proteas one-day international squad to return to the Lions enclosure for their Supersport Series match against the Eagles, beginning on Thursday.
Opening batsman AB de Villiers was released to the Titans last week.
”We are rotating our players in order for them to get valuable time in the middle. At this early stage in our season it is a difficult but important strategy,” said the convener of the selection panel, Haroon Lorgat.
”When we released AB last week, we wanted him to have some match practice and it paid handsome dividends. We are confident that Andrew will benefit from competitive cricket and excel for the Lions.”
The 13-man squad for the second and third one-day international matches is as follows: Graeme Smith (captain), Nicky Boje, Mark Boucher, AB de Villiers, Boeta Dippenaar, Herschelle Gibbs, Jacques Kallis, Justin Kemp, Charl Langeveldt, Andre Nel, Makhaya Ntini, Shaun Pollock and Ashwell Prince.
The squad for the remaining fourth and fifth Standard Bank one-day international matches will be announced next week. — Sapa
