R527 to see Robbie Williams up close

Details of pop megastar Robbie Williams’s tour to South Africa were announced on Wednesday.

His tour kicks off in Durban at the Absa Stadium on April 10. He will be at Cape Town’s Green Point Stadium on April 13, and the last concert will be at Pretoria’s Loftus Versfeld on April 17.

Tickets for the shows went on sale on Wednesday exclusively to subscribers of Robbiewilliams.com. They will be available in South Africa through Computicket on November 19.

Big Concerts said Computicket has extended its opening hours in anticipation of the massive ticket demand. It will be open from 8am to 8pm both on November 19 and 20.

Ticket prices for the Durban show range from R167 to R397, in Cape Town from R192 to R527, and in Pretoria from R192 to R527.

Williams’s latest album, Intensive Care, shot into the United Kingdom’s number-one slot, and it went gold on the day of release last month.

The former member of boy band Take That has been performing solo for eight years. He has produced nearly 30 hit singles since recording his debut album in 1997.

Often referred to as one of the greatest pop icons of our time, Williams has sold more than 40-million albums worldwide, and received numerous awards.

His Live at Knebworth album became the fastest-selling live album in British chart history, and What We Did Last Summer became the fastest- and biggest-selling music DVD to date. — Sapa
