Be careful, Cosmos warn Pirates

Jomo Cosmos have sent out a stern warning to their Coca-Cola Cup semifinal opponents, Orlando Pirates.

”They must be careful because we will do the same to them that happened in the SAA Supa8,” said former Bafana Bafana international Helman Mkhelele during Tuesday’s press conference.

Mkhelele was alluding to Pirates’ semifinal exit from the Supa8 at the hands of Bloemfontein Celtic, who had breezed past Kaizer Chiefs in the quarterfinals and were crowned eventual winners.

Cosmos guaranteed their passage into the semifinals with a win over Kaizer Chiefs at Olympia Stadium in Rustenburg two weeks ago and will be hoping that luck is once again on their side when they face off against Pirates at the same venue on Sunday.

”If beating Chiefs and then Pirates is how competitions are won, then we are going to beat Pirates on Sunday and go on to win this one,” Mkhelele said.

However, Pirates PRO Mickey Modisane would not be drawn into a slugging match with Mkhelele and said that his team were focusing on their Castle Premiership encounter against Dynamos in Giyani on Wednesday evening.

”At the moment, we are concentrating all our focus on the league game against Dynamos, and then we will start thinking about the semifinal on Sunday.”

In the other semifinal match, cup specialists Supersport United will square off against Ajax Cape Town in Kimberley.

”We are going to Kimberley with one thing in mind and that is to be back here again on Monday as one of the last two remaining teams in this competition,” said Supersport United PRO David Skhosana.

Supersport United will want to regain their cup-specialist tag after losing to Celtic in the final of the SAA Supa8. — Sapa
