Springbok flyhalf Meyer Bosman was recalled to the South African Tri-Nations squad on Friday after Andre Pretorius failed to recover fully from a thigh injury.
Bosman, who was initially called up for Springbok duty at the start of South Africa’s international season, and excluded from the South African under-21 side for the recent world championships in France, played two Tests at the end of 2005.
Bosman will be back-up for coach Jake White’s first-choice flyhalf Jaco van der Westhuyzen.
Pretorius told South African rugby website keo.co.za he had not been consulted by the South African Rugby Union management on the progress of his injury.
”No one spoke to me, so it was quite a shock when I was included in the squad,” Pretorius said.
He felt he might be able to play a part in the match against the Wallabies in Sydney on August 5.
”I should probably play a club game first to see how the groin holds up,” Pretorius said. — Sapa-AP
