Spain’s Dani Pedrosa of Honda won the British Grand Prix at Donington on Sunday, finishing just under four seconds ahead of seven-time world champion Valentino Rossi and Italian Max Melandri.
Pedrosa started on pole but was overtaken by Melandri at the start and sat behind the Italian for 11 laps.
The Spaniard briefly dropped to third behind American John Hopkins after a mistake on lap five, but by lap 12 he had passed both riders and from then there was no stopping him.
Italian Rossi, wearing a cast on his broken wrist, started the day 12th on the grid but worked his way through the field in typically brilliant fashion.
Over the final laps he battled with friend and compatriot Melandri for second place, with both riders taking every risk possible to snatch the 20 points on offer.
