Good news for motorists as petrol price set to fall

The retail price of petrol will decline by 50c to 51c per litre from Wednesday October 4, the Department of Minerals and Energy said on Friday.

The retail price of Petrol 91 ULP will fall by 51c a litre, while that of 93 and 95 ULP and LRP will fall by 50c a litre.

The wholesale price of diesel 0,05% sulphur will decline by 34c a litre (c/l) and that of 0,005% sulphur will fall by 37c/l on the same date.

The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin will fall by 22c/l, while the single maximum national retail price of illuminating paraffin will decline by 30c/l.

The latest changes bring the retail price of a litre of 95 octane unleaded petrol in Gauteng to 618c/l and to 594c/l at the coast.

During the period under review — September 1 to September 28 — the average international product price of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin decreased.

The rand/United States dollar exchange rate weakened compared to the previous period and averaged 7,4347 compared with 6,9705 in the previous period. — I-Net Bridge
