Complaints against Western Cape Judge President John Hlophe for working outside his judicial functions would come under scrutiny again this week, Business Day reported on Monday.
It said this would happen at a meeting of the Judicial Service Commission and its special investigating committee.
Hlophe and his relationship with Oasis Crescent Property Fund Managers hit the headlines this year.
He was reportedly was paid R10 000 a month in breach of rules that judges may not do work outside their judicial functions without permission from the justice minister.
There had so far been two complaints to the commission about Hlophe and a committee had been established to investigate them.
When the commission investigates a judge, it establishes a committee for this purpose which may not include any of the political functionaries who serve on the commission.
The committee has met twice so far and was scheduled to convene again this week during a three-day session.
Hlophe initially denied the reports but later conceded that he did work for Oasis, and that permission to do so was granted by the late Dullah Omar while he was justice minister. – Sapa
